The Constitution Party is a unique and reliable political force in America. Our candidates use the Constitution as the basis of their platforms, and freely quote the Founding Fathers to underscore their positions.
For example, our platform is inequitably pro-life: “We affirm the God-given legal personhood of all human beings from fertilization to natural death, without exception.” The Republicans and Democrats wouldn’t dare make that a policy plank.
That kind of unflinching but unavoidable position can be found in our plank on foreign policy, especially when it comes to the entangling alliances the U.S. has in the Middle East. Our platform reads:
The Constitution Party has consistently opposed American involvement in conflicts in the Middle East … The United States has no interest in these areas which would justify the sacrifice of Americans on foreign battlefields — nor is our country properly cast as a merchant of death in international arms races.
The Constitution Party takes seriously Thomas Jefferson’s admonition of, “Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations; entangling alliances with none.”
Darrell Castle, our 2008 Vice Presidential nominee and a member of the National Executive Committee, just wrote a bold essay addressing American interests and the state of Israel. Every member should read this challenging and forthright piece. Darrell states, “The Constitution Party has always felt that taking part in other people’s disputes is a bad idea. It leads to conflict and makes enemies who may need to be fought, while unreasonably emboldening friends who assume the full weight of the United States is behind them.”
I urge you to read “The United States, Israel, and the Constitution Party” as we approach the final days in the important election year. I hope it will inspire you as we work for foreign and domestic policies that are deeply rooted in the Constitution.
Remember, the Constitution Party is the only party that lives up to its name.
