It’s All In the Numbers

Newsman Harry Reasoner once quipped that,“Statistics are to baseball what a flaky crust is to Mom’s apple pie.”
That may be true in sports, but it’s just as applicable to politics. Polls, winning/losing percentages, counting party registrations — numbers are central to measuring our success. |
Let me share with you some “inside baseball” figures …
- As of last week, the number of Constitution Party Facebook “likes” almost doubled from just a year ago;
- The number of friends following us via Google is growing by a factor of nearly 10% per month;
- The Constitution Party now has over 3000 Twitter followers.
This progress could not be made without your support — thanks for being there when we need you.
Here are some other numbers that impact on our work to educate and motivate fellow citizens. In December, a number of recent surveys have demonstrated voter disapproval of the direction in which Congress is taking this nation:
- FOX News found 63 percent of voters disapproved;
- ABC News/Washington Post revealed 69 percent are dissatisfied;
- CBS News/NY Times showed 73 percent of our fellow citizens are disgruntled.
To reinforce those numbers, 40 percent of registered voters did not find reason enough to get out of the house and vote in the 2012 elections. They could have, but there was no motivation for them to do so.
But the most encouraging number I’ve saved for last …
According to the Gallup polling company, 60% of Americans say the Democratic and Republicans parties do such a poor job of representing the American people that a third major party is needed. That is the highest Gallup has measured in the 10-year history of this question.
The time is ripe for a third party — voters are fed up with the “leadership” of Congress — they’re staying home until they see and hear new alternatives to politics-as-usual.
So I’ll give you three more numbers: $20, $30, and $40 … your Constitution Party needs 50 friends to give $20, another 50 supporters to donate $30, and another 50 members to contribute $40.
One hundred fifty patriots to invest $4,500 … I have faith this can happen: the statistics of our party growth prove it.
The vital help we need to start off this important election year is entirely up to you, however. We have no $25,000 donors — no fat cats who underwrite our Constitution Party the way they do the Democrats and Republicans. The Constitution Party is not for sale.
I am proud to say hundreds — thousands — of supporters have sustained our steady growth over the past 20 years with donations of $100, $50, and even $15 or $20.
Now we need 150 patriots to come forward: 50 to give $20, another 50 to donate $30, and another 50 to contribute $40.
May I count on you?
The election year has started — we have men and women who understand the Constitution already running for office … ballot access drives have begun … literature is being developed. But, as our growth is tied directly to your help, the future of the Constitution Party is in your hands.
