CONSTITUTION PARTY OATH
Don Blankenship
2020 Constitution Party nominee for President of the United States
The Constitution Party is dedicated to the premise that America became the greatest nation on earth because America’s founders guaranteed its citizens their individual freedoms and at the same time provided a clear and understandable basis for law and order. The template for both the freedoms and the law was and remains the Constitution of the United States.
Constitution Party members believe that the United States Constitution is the backbone of America’s greatness. Greatness that was and is possible only if citizens of a country are allowed to be free and to govern themselves.
Our Party members have the same dedication to the Constitution that West Point cadets are asked to express in their oath. The oath is a simple and critical one. It says:
“I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully execute the duties of the office on which I am about to enter, so help me God”.
The cadet oath is what the Constitution Party is all about. It is very similar to the oath that the President of the United States makes upon taking office. The President’s oath is:
“I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
This sworn commitment by every President America elects is the same level of commitment that members of the Constitution Party have to the Constitution. Our Constitution Party members commit to you and to all Americans that we will faithfully defend the Constitution of the United States. We believe that by doing so America can be what it has been before. The greatest nation on earth and a bastion of individual freedom.
It is our belief that our commitment is a minimal must if we are to ask our finest young men and women to risk and perhaps sacrifice their lives in defense of this Constitution. Nothing else, other than our commitment to politically defend what they pledge to defend against all enemies is acceptable.
Furthermore, we at the Constitution Party believe that our candidates for office must be committed to the same honor code that the West Point cadets commit to. That code says:
“A cadet will not lie, cheat, or steal”.
Both the cadet’s oath and honor code are simple. They are the same oath and honor code that all Americans who are elected to office must be required to uphold. Both our honor and our allegiance to America are necessary if we are to return America to the standards of self-governing behavior that made America the envy of the world. The Constitution Party also believes that our positions on the issues facing our country are always open to open debate but that the Constitutional principles on which our positions are based are not debatable.
We commit to others that join with us that our positions will always be based on our loyal dedication to the Constitution and to the freedom and that law that is dependent on it… freedoms and Constitutionally compliant laws that are both fundamental to our nurturing and sustaining our great nation.
If you believe as we do, that our freedoms which are guaranteed by the Constitution are not negotiable; and that the rule of law must be fairly, equally, and consistently enforced, then we welcome you to our Party. We commit to you that we will not lie steal, or cheat and that our positions on issues of import to America will, to the best of our ability, be compliant with the Constitution.
