party over people is treason in disguise.

“There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution.” John Adams

When Benjamin Franklin was leaving Philadelphia Hall on the day the Constitution was signed, a woman stopped him on the street and asked, “What kind of government do we have?”. He replied, “A Republic, if you can keep it.”

Presidents, Members of Congress, State Legislators, and other public servants all take an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.  Have they done so?

what is a republican form of government?

The word “republic” is from the Latin phrase “res publica” which means “a thing of the people”. In a republic, we elect representatives who are bound by oath to support and defend the Constitution. We, the People, delegate a portion of our sovereignty to those representatives to create laws that benefit the whole of the people, not just a few, or a ruling elite or aristocracy.

In today’s political climate, the concept of a republic has been compromised by two parties. One emphasizes direct majority rule of the people to sustain a political elite of socialist leadership. While the other is the polar opposite — emphasizing the rule of a political and corporate elite. Both sides have manipulated our election system into a false two-party process not authorized by the U.S. Constitution.

Both sides continually destroy constitutional safeguards, either deliberately or blindly, while pursuing their separate agendas.

U.S. Capitol

Our Constitution secures the rules that govern the process; therefore, we are not a democracy with majority rule. In a republic, the rights of the minority are protected, and each level of government serves as a check on the power of every other level, thereby protecting the rights of the people.

Taking the Oath of Office

Americans are a covenant-keeping people. We say the Pledge of Allegiance at many public events. New citizens take an Oath of Citizenship. Our elected officials and public servants take an oath. What are these oaths and what do they really mean?

THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

THE OATH OF CITIZENSHIP

“I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God”.

THE PUBLIC SERVANT OATH

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”

THE PRESIDENTIAL OATH

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

Ask yourself

The primary consideration is the commitment to support, defend, preserve, and protect the Constitution of the United States, which establishes a Republican form of government.

Ask yourself:

  • Is the current political system upholding this covenant?
  • Is your elected representative or government official keeping their end of the bargain?
  • Are you supporting and defending the Constitution?
  • When we continue to vote for people who do not keep this commitment, are we keeping our allegiance to the Republic?
