what is eternal vigilance?

In 1790, John Philpot Curran taught that maintaining our God-given Liberty requires Eternal Vigilance. We must constantly work to secure Liberty, or we lose it inch by inch, law by law, regulation by regulation.  This is the situation we face in America today.  The consequence is political slavery to the will of those who abuse the power we have so blindly given them.
