The Founders Legacy Society

  “Our mission is to secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity through the election of Constitution Party candidates, at all levels of government, who will uphold the principles of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States, and the Bill of Rights. It is our goal to limit the federal government to its delegated, enumerated, Constitutional function.”    

 “With a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.”

There are seven men who are generally thought of as being the primary “Founders” of America. They are George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, John Jay and James Madison.

There were also 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence, 39 signers of the Constitution, and many women. The farmers, merchants, teachers and others who made up the Continental Army, Navy, and Marine Corps should not never be forgotten, though they often are.

The Founders were not perfect people. They often disagreed with each other. The majority were in their 30’s and 40’s. But they learned how to work together for the common cause of Liberty and respected the unique contributions of each other.

They also feared for the future. Benjamin Franklin was asked after signing the Constitution if they had created a monarchy or a republic, Franklin replied: “A republic, if you can keep it.”

Can we keep it?

Howard Phillips had the same fear as the Founders. He saw first-hand the corruption and lack of integrity in the highest offices of the land.

Howard Phillips was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1941. The son of Jewish parents, he later converted to Christianity and remained a devout Christian to the end of his life.  He married Margaret “Peggy” Blanchard and together they raised six children.

A 1962 graduate of Harvard College in Cambridge Massachusetts, he was twice elected as chairman of the Student Council. 

Howard Phillips entered into Massachusetts politics. After many years of service with the Republican party, he decided that there was no longer any hope of constitutional governance by either of the two so-called major parties. By 1992, he had founded the U.S. Taxpayer’s Party, which would become the Constitution Party by 1999.

During the Nixon Administration, Phillips headed two Federal agencies, ending his Executive Branch career as Director of the U.S. Office of Economic Opportunity in the Executive Office of the President, a position from which he resigned when President Nixon reneged on his commitment to veto further funding for “Great Society” programs. 

His commitment and integrity to the Constitution and America have never wavered nor been questioned. Can we do the same?
